A Weekend of Indulgences

I have a really big sweet tooth ...  and it's become somewhat of a problem in my quest to be super healthy. I naturally tend to avoid pancakes and waffles for breakfast and usually opt for the smoothies made of dark leafy greens, but on this particular Saturday I just didn't care. I wanted something sweet and when I have a determination that strong, nothing ever gets in my way. So off to Peels we went, on that cloudy Saturday afternoon. I ordered their pancakes, grits, and fish tacos. I don't recommend the combination, but I normally require some sort of variety and hence the odd selection of mismatched foods. The pancakes were good and the maple syrup frequented my flapjacks and I was all the more happier for it.

Having grown up in Los Angeles, grits were not part of my breakfast, nor my vocabulary for the matter. So I was pleasantly surprised when to the recommendation of the person sitting next to me, I ordered the jalapeno cheddar grits. It was so perfectly creamy, it made the clouds disappear and made my heart smile.

Corn For Breakfast

It's been quite the busy weekend for me with my parents visiting, a wedding to attend to and a life changing trip to Paris impending!  My mom, being one of the biggest corn proponent I know, was the first person I thought of when I tried this corn from Cafe Habana for the first time last August. I've been dying to take her here but missed our opportunity in May, and I knew I couldn't let her leave without trying this cuban styled corn again. So, we had corn for breakfast. And it was everything I dreamed of and more. It's just that sweet and salty combo that gets me every time. My mom and dad loved it (Score!). As for the other food, it was my first time trying anything else from their menu and nothing was able to steal the spotlight from this magnificent corn. The Challah French Toast however, was a surprising and unexpected second! Quite good and I will be definitely be making more trips to Cafe Habana not only for their grilled corn but also their Challah French Toast now. Yum, getting hungry all over again!

Brooklyn Bridge

I'm a morning person. I love that you get a head start on your day and you get to squeeze in an extra something while most people are still sleeping in bed. I love that feeling of accomplishment you get at 10 o'clock in the morning(!) which is ridiculous and also makes you feel kind of invincible.  But after my move to New York it's been hard to keep up my early morning habits, because of the time differences and what not. I'm finally adjusting though, and today I woke up early enough to walk/run to the Brooklyn Bridge before I headed out to work. It was such a beautiful way to start the day, watching the sun slowly rise across the bridge and being welcomed back into the city with Manhattan's skyline.

Bonjour!

Bon nouvelles!

I'm going to Paris!!!! I wish I had a bit more time to plan, learn some key french phrases etc but alas c'est la vie. When your dream is handed to you, you do not complain. I'm going to Paris in 8 days and I simply cannot believe it!

Originally meant to be a trip to London with my mom, she surprised me with our flight into Europe landing in Paris. Paris is the one destination I've been dreaming about ever since I could remember. Who hasn't got their little Eiffel Tower trinket somewhere in their house? The country of Brigitte Bardot, Macarons, Degas, Napolean! Monet! ...This trip will be one I will never forget!

Dime Piece

I’ve been in one big rush ever since I can remember. A rush to grow up, a rush to drive, a rush to move out, anything I wasn’t allowed to do at the moment- I was in a hurry to do it. But now that I’m in my mid-twenties, I find that I’m constantly in want of more time, for it to slow down just a bit and to have more hours in the day. My dad always said, “Everyone is given the same 24 hours, it's how you choose to use it that sets you apart”.  I'm still learning to make the most of my day but maybe if I had a classic timepiece I could manage it better... (Insert sly grin here).

I've been obsessed with these Chanel Premiere watches since its debut earlier this spring. A relaunch from the original Premiere collection in 1987, this baby is back with a new band. These watches are so minimally classic and perfectly beautiful, I often catch myself dreaming of a life with a Premiere in my possession. However with the steep prices beginning at $4,300 and going as high as $28,500 in my dreams is the only place I'll be seeing them.

By the way, did you know the face of the watch was inspired by the Paris Vendome?
